Stoddard, Mary Ann

Mary Ann Stoddard
I am a lowcountry girl who grew up with an artist for a mother and a CPA for a father.  I spent many an afternoon “playing school” with my dolls and an old black board and worn Dick and Jane first readers.  I loved teaching when I was six and I still love it now.  Donald Graves of Columbia’s Teacher College once said, “The teacher should be the chief learner in every classroom.”  What a privilege it is to learn with amazing 5th graders in Room 228.  Though I majored in International Studies and French at USC (thinking I would be a CIA agent),  28 years ago I came to my senses and received my masters in Education from Converse and later National Board Certification.  I am married to Allen, a master artist and experimental chef.  We have three accomplished children and one awesome son-in-law.  In addition to teaching my 5th graders, I also love to write,  read,  grow hydrangeas and adjunct teach through Converse College.
